NEW!
KA Level I Internship!

KA has a long track speed skater from Seattle, USA flying in to
do some consulting with us. His name is Bert Sims and here is his
profile:
|
Bert is an Athletic Development coach and is currently living
in Langley, BC, 40 minutes east of Vancouver. He is 26 years
old (27, October 20), a former collegiate football player
(2 years) and former recreational (read: high school) baseball
and basketball player. He has only been training for speed
skating for 1 year but he takes it very seriously and has
high aspirations in the sport. His events of choice are the
500m & 1000m long track.
He is currently training on a short track due to the absence
of a long track on Lower Mainland until 2007 or 2008. He has
not yet competed. Under normal circumstances, this is not
a situation that KA would get involved with, however Bert
has a strong understanding of the need to build the technique
base and accepts that this will take time and commitment.
He is not planning on competing until at least 2007 or 2008.
He is incredibly passionate about the sport and expresses
tremendous drive in the limited communication we have had.
Here is a quote from recent e-mail correspondence:
"I am primed in terms of strength, speed, explosiveness,
special endurance, etc. When I start to compete there will
be no question as to what will happen. So for the 2004-05,
2005-06, and probably 2006-07 seasons it will pretty much
be GPP's and SPP's with no CP. And I am okay with that because
I know what the payoff will be for all the hard work and patience.
I understand I am not world class by any means in this sport
(does not mean I won't be though) and hopefully this will
not take away from the seminar. I just wanted to make sure
to state the truth up front so people know what to expect
from me."

Bert Sims
B.Sc. Sport Science, CSCS, CPT, Sports Nutritionist
Owner: Dynamic Physique
Athletic Preparation and Body Transformation Specialist
Langley, CAN |
We appreciate Bert's honesty and feel this will not detract from
the seminar. Instead this will only add to the event as it is an
opportunity for KA associates to see how we handle an athlete at
the ground level in their sport. How we initiate the training process,
build the fundamentals and help an athlete along their path to success.
It is critical to mention that outside of the above correspondence
Mark Mancino and the KA team know very little about Bert Sims. They
met briefly years ago at an athletic development seminar and since
then Bert has keenly followed Mark's work from a distance. The point
is, Mark has no idea what he will face and
what decisions will have to be made.
He has no
idea what he will face. The seminar is completely spontaneous!
The seminar participant will have the opportunity to see exactly
what we do with an athlete when first consulting with
them.
This is
what real life coaching is all about...
We are extremely excited to offer you "this never
done before" opportunity! It will be a 2 and
a half day event. Here is a brief outline of the seminar:
Friday evening (approx 4 hours):
Mark, the athlete and the group will meet to go through the initial
interview and information session.
Saturday (approx 8 hours): Mark will
take the athlete through his integrated assessment protocol, needs
analysis and goal setting. This will involve allot of practical
as the participants will be given the opportunity to perform the
assessments.
Sunday (approx 8 hours): The group
will review the assessment results that Coach Mancino puts together
and get a clear idea of the detail that should go into this process.
Participants will work through the theory and practice of the program
designed by Mark to meet the specific needs of the athlete at the
present time. This will be very practical as the group will be out
on the gym floor and will be given the opportunity to coach the
athlete through the exercises.
The program will likely be two stages depending on
the circumstances, so it will demonstrate progressions and some
periodization techniques. Planned theoretical presentations will
be presented throughout, however the seminar will consist largely
of spontaneous interaction amongst the group. Time allowing, the
group will gather on the gym floor to discuss and practice exercise
progressions for future programs.
Do not
miss this incredible opportunity to see exactly what the experts
do when initially meeting with a new client!
If you are interested in taking part in this incredible
opportunity, we strongly encourage you to e-mail Janice
Ferreira and reserve your spot today!
WARNING: Anyone that has attended a seminar with
Mark Mancino can attest to the intense presentation format. The
days are guaranteed to be long (likely beyond the
above mentioned timeline) - if you are not prepared to participate
and stay actively involved throughout the duration of the seminar
- this event is not for you!
Note: Price does not include GST.
